Fractures are often caused by falling, and falling is often caused by a facility that does not have enough staff to meet the needs of dependent residents at risk for falling. For instance, poor staffing results in a failure to timely answer call lights and results in falls and fractures. The environment can also be dangerous and cause a resident to fall and fracture a bone. For instance, rugs in the wrong place, poor lighting or furniture in the wrong place can cause falls and fractures.
